SASHIKO STITCHING with HEATHER YOUNG

Sashiko Stitching for Design & Repair with Heather Young

This Japanese hand stitching technique was traditionally used to mend and reinforce fabric. In this
workshop we will discuss traditional techniques of Boro, Sashiko and quilting with their modern uses in craft techniques and visible creative repair. Through the use of the running stitch, an amazing variety of patterns can be achieved. In this workshop students will learn the basics of Sashiko stitching and create a handmade pot holder.  Participants are also encouraged to bring a piece of clothing to mend as well. (denim jeans, woolens)
