Collage NIGHT is back with artist host Becky Johnson!

Join us in the store on Tuesday January 31st from 7-9pm for an evening of collage making with Becky Johnson of Sweetie Pie Press.

I’m thrilled to launch this year’s Collage Nights with Becky Johnson, who’s crafting, blogging and business is inspiring to anyone she meets. I met Becky when she stopped into my shop last year – she lives in Toronto, where I’m from – so we had lots to chat about from the get go.

Her Sweetie Pie Press buttons are sold here in the shop, and she’s an avid blogger, crafter, and all round interesting gal to chat with. You can learn a little more about Sweetie Pie here, http://www.sweetiepiepress.com/
and get to know the gal her self over paper, scissors and glue on Tuesday January 31st right here at the big table in the middle of the shop.

Paul Klee puppets..starting to come to life!

I’m rather proud of our MAKE classes this week as the registered group have been working on Paul Klee inspired puppets from this book. I was lent this amazing book recently (and have ordered it for the store!) and had to include it in our lesson plans for the 10 week classes. We’ve started with some paper mache and now we’re onto paint! We looked at all the puppets, what they were made from, and talked about how special it was that Klee made them for his children. Looking forward to the finished puppets!

stylish friends sharing their crafts…

I like to gush about my friends, you’ll know this from reading the blog. Once again, I’m going to sing the praises of my buddy Tamar Rosenberg. She’s an artist-turned renovator-designer and I love her a lot. Her beautiful home was featured in Style at Home magazines’ September issue. Over the years Tamar has honored my work by bringing it into her collection, and the magazine snapped a shot of a banner I made for her years ago inspired by a Miranda July project. The project suggests you make an inspiring banner for someone you love. The magazine has brought the shop some attention – mostly if you can buy these banners in store – so I’m going to throw a workshop this fall. Stay tuned for details!

and way to go Tam Tam! We love you and your home.
