Happy Family Day from Collage Collage.

Drop by the shop and join us for open studio by drawing some portraits of each other or pick up a set of family wooden doll kits and make something great together.

This week are featuring A Family Is A Family Is A Family written by Sara O’leary and illustrated by Qin Leng. A book that reminds us that there are many family dynamics in homes today. Moms and Dads that had kids before they met each other, Moms and Moms, Dads and Dads, Grandmas to Foster Care – all the families are here tucked in the pages of this sweet book. A beautiful way to celebrate families.

We will have this book and some wooden doll kits at the shop and you can join us this week for Drop In Classes where our project will be based on this book.

” A book is a gift you can open again and again” and over at Collage Collage you can find some great ones.

A great book will encourage a life long love of reading. Adding a little gift or making a little piece of art can connect the reader even deeper to that book and will stay with the recipient for a long time. Drop in and find some last minute treasures for the young and young at heart. I put together a few beautiful things for those last minute shoppers.

We Sang You Home and Little You written by Richard Van Camp and illustrated by a local, Julie Flett make a great gift for a new baby or a family welcoming a new little one. These adorable little moccasins are handmade right here in Vancouver by Becky Brisco of Little Edie, the sweetest way to keep those little feet warm.

This set is one of my personal favourites: felt mask making kit with This Is Sadie written by Sara O’Leary and Illustrated by our beloved local favourite Julie Morstad. A gift and book that is sure to ignite the imagination.

Bears Winter Party written by Deborah Hodge and illustrated by our very own Lisa Cinar of Draw Me A Lion, both these ladies reside right here in Vancouver. I gifted this beautiful winter tale to my son along with the sweetest little bear necklace from Cora + Cloud.

There is so much more to choose from so please drop in and take a look around, that Santa guy will totally approve.

If you fell in love with Clover and the Magical Animal Adoption Agency then you are probably following along on her newest adventure in The Missing Magic.

Kallie George has written another wonderful addition to The Magical Animal Adoption Agency. If you haven’t read Clover’s luck, and The Enchanted Egg you can still jump right in with The Missing Magic. This series is a great book for adventurers, animal lovers and did I mention it has magic? Filled with beautiful illustrations by Alexandra Bioger, a truly magical book for young readers transitioning into chapter books.

The Missing Magic was our pick for this months book club and we are very excited to have Kallie joining us at the shop this Saturday the 22nd. Come meet Kallie and create a magical mask with us from 12 -2 pm.

Very special guest Kyo Maclear will be at the shop this Saturday celebrating her new book The Wish Tree along with our friend and celebrated author/illustrator Julie Morstad.

You may recognize Kyo’s work from Spork, The Good Little Book,Virginia Wolf and Julia, Child written by Kyo and illustrated by Julie. Her new book The Wish Tree is a special story about a boy and his sled but also so much more. Beautifully illustrated by Chris Turnham with a soft and playful style that will easily become a winter favourite.

kyo2 It’s a very snowy winter and Charles wants to find “a wish tree.” Both his brother and sister try to tell him there is no such tree but Charles doesn’t listen. He believes. On his search he comes across different animals, like a friendly squirrel who needs help gathering hazelnuts. He has spent his day helping the animals and just when the day is ending Charles finds the wish tree, gleaming white. He writes his wish on a piece of paper and ties it to the tree.

Come out and make a wish of your very own, and meet Kyo and Julie, which to me is a wish granted in itself.

This Saturday, September 24 th from 12- 2 p.m.

See you there.
