Another love bomb on the blog today. For Sarah Holtom! We love Sarah – she is the most wonderful person to work with. She brings an amazing energy to her classes and she’s one heck of an artist. Recently she went on the road to do some painting, and I can’t wait to see what she’s come up with. Her resume is pretty stellar too, and this lovely post from “The BB Creative” shares Sarah’s awesomeness perfectly. Thanks BB!

I like to gush about my friends, you’ll know this from reading the blog. Once again, I’m going to sing the praises of my buddy Tamar Rosenberg. She’s an artist-turned renovator-designer and I love her a lot. Her beautiful home was featured in Style at Home magazines’ September issue. Over the years Tamar has honored my work by bringing it into her collection, and the magazine snapped a shot of a banner I made for her years ago inspired by a Miranda July project. The project suggests you make an inspiring banner for someone you love. The magazine has brought the shop some attention – mostly if you can buy these banners in store – so I’m going to throw a workshop this fall. Stay tuned for details!

Did you meet Liz? Liz is our intern-turned part time staff person here at Collage Collage. She’s the first intern I ever worked with, and I really hit the jackpot with her.
Liz worked at the shop part time this year while working hard on her grad projects for Emily Carr University – and now she’s off on an adventure doing a residency in iceland. lucky for us, she’s started up a blog so that we might join in on her most amazing trip.

It’s a real honor to do what you love to do every day. What I can’t get over is how much I get back from my tiny little clients. The bring me such inspiration – and just when things get really challenging – they’re capable of turning everything around again.
Being small is a wonderful time to celebrate the small things. Spelling your name, successfully cutting out a shape with scissors, and counting to four.
This video of Feist with some friends from Sesame Street makes me smile. I think it’s pretty cool to see artists who are able to be a little bit silly from time to time and delight in this same celebration. Enjoy!
